Cabaret- Wales Millenium Centre

The brief called for a space that could adapt throughout the day—from workshops and rehearsals to live music, cabaret and immersive performances by night. In response, we designed a neutral spatial ‘box’—a versatile canvas brought to life through dynamic lighting and movable furniture, allowing the atmosphere to shift dramatically depending on the event.

A key experiential element is the kaleidoscopic entrance corridor, designed as a journey in itself. Lined with infinity mirrors and overhead LED lighting, it creates a sense of theatrical build-up as guests transition into a dimly lit bar and then into the main performance space.

The triangular footprint of the room became a central design asset. we arranged the seating to converge around the stage, creating intimacy and energy within the layout. Above, a suspended LED triangle reinforces this focal point, with its apex drawing the eye directly to the performance area.

The stage, tables, and chairs were all specified to be movable, supporting the need for constant reconfiguration. This flexibility enables the space to function as a daytime creative hub and an atmospheric venue by evening.

The result is a highly adaptable performance environment—visually striking yet fundamentally supportive of multiple formats and creative uses.
